ORDINANCE NUMBER FIFTY�NINE.
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE KEEPING OF P00L ROOMS ,
BILLIARD HALLS, BOILING ALLEYS, SHOPPING GJ.LLERIES
AND SKATING RINKS IN THE CITY OF BEAUAONT 1,ND T:MTE
OF OPENING AND CLOSING 31 THEREOF.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Beaumont do
ordain as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to engage in, conduct or carry on within the
City of Beaumont t business of keeping a pool room,
billiard hall, !st 'Zlley , shooti.ng gallery or skating
rink without fir obtaining a written permit so to do.from the
Board of Trustees and subject to :ucii condition.i as may
from time to time be imposed by said Board.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to keep en for business any pool :room, billiard
hall, boVAing g4 shooting gallery or skating rink be-
tween the hours of eleven o'clock P. M. and A five o'clock
A M of the following day on any Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday or Friday or between the ho-irs of twelve
o'clock P.M. on any Saturday and t six o'clock .1. M. on any
Sunday, or to conduct any such business or pla ,le where
there is any partition or obstruction separatiA, iA part
or in whole any such room or place from any oth -Ir part
or section thereof so as to obstruct a clear view of such
room or place of business. This section shall n)t prevent
the maintenance of toilets in any such room or place nor to
prevent the Trustees from giving a special permit in writing
covering a period not to exceed one week at any one time
allowing such places of business to keep open at other hours.
Section 3. Any person, firm, or corporation, or any agent or
officer thereof violating any provision of this ordinance shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be
punished by fine not to exceed X200.00 or by imprisonment in
the City or County jail not to exceed 60 days of by both such
fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the -passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be posted in three public
places in the City of Beaumont, to -wit: One at -Jhe Post- office,
one at the City official bulletin board and one at the office
of the City Clerk, and thirty days after its pa;3sage this
ordinance shall be in full force and effect.
Adopted this 12th, day of Jenuary, 1917.
