HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 601 ' 1 ORDINANCE NUMBER SIXTY. 2 AN ORDINANCE TO PROTECT THE CEMENT OR CONCRETE SIDEWALKS AND CURBS OF THE CITY 31 OF BEAUMONT AND TO PREVENT THE OBSTRUCTION OF CULVERTS AND GUTTERS. 4I The Board of Trustees of the City of Beaumont do ordain 5I as follows: 6 7' 91 10' 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 i 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 A 31 32 Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any perm n jto ride, propel or drive —any automobile, wagon, truck, motor - cycle, bi- cycle, tri- cycle, coaster or other vehicle, or to skat s upon, or to ride, drive, or lead any horse, cow or any animal of burden upon or across the cement or concrete portions j)f the curbs, or sidewalks in the City of Beaumont, excepting at alleys or where crossings are now or shall hereafter be 1 ,1m ated. Section 2. Section 1 of this ordinance shall nolt apply to ve?T1U1VZ -for the conveyance of children by others nor to invalid chairs or conveyances. Neither shall ilt apply to skating nor to small vehicles under four feet ijn length usually used by children in their sports (bX- cyjcles not included), excepting on the following portions of the follows named streets, to -wit: I On Egan Avenue from the Railroad to DI Street; On D Street from Egan to California Avenue; On California Avenue between Fifth & !Sixth Streets; On Fifth Street between California AvIenue and Edgar Avenue. Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any personto place or maintain—any obstruction in or across my public waste water ditch or gutter or culvert in the City of Beau ont, or to conctruct or maintain orer or across any such ditch or gutter any bridge or corssing or covering without permission first obtained from the Board of Trustees. Section 4. The word person as used in this ordinance is hereby defined to include perso n4 or persons, corporations or corpor- ations, firm or firms, and agents and officers ?of firms and corporations. Section 5. Any person violating any provision cif this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon] conviction be fined not to exceed 4100.00 Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be posted in three public places in the City of Beaumont, to -wit: one at'the post - office, one at the City official Bulletdn .Board and onel at the office of the City Clerk, and thirty days after its possage this ordinance shall be in full foree and effect.
