SECTION I. The amount of money to be raised by taxati

SECTION 7M. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance and to be necessary for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, health and safety, anff the facts constituting its
urgency are hereby stated and declared to be as follows;to -wit:
It is required b law that an ordinance be passed fixing he
amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation on the taxable
property in the City of Beaumont,as a revenue to carry on the var-
ious departments of the city and to pay its bonded and other indebt-
edness for the current year, and that not later than the last Tues-
day in August the rate of tax be fixed; there will not be sufficient
time elapse between the time of the adoption of this ordinance and
the last Tuesday in Aup^ust this ,year, to enable its passage other-
wise than as an emergency ordinance and have it in effect by the
said Tuesda- in August when it must be in effect to conply with the
law with reference to the fixing of the rate of taxes 9s aforesaid
, rnd if the rate of taxes is not somf fixed, the City will be with-
out adequate finds to operate its various departments 3urinr� the
current year and pay its bonded and interest indebte,InF�ss, upon which
depend the public health,peace and safety.
