AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE AA OUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE
RAISED BY TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT FOR THE CURRENT YEAR.
THE BOAP,D OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWSi
Section 1. The amount of money necessary to be raised by
taxation upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont as _ a
revenue to carry on the various departments of the City of Beaumont,
and to pay the bonded and interest indebtedness of the City of
Beaumont for the current year is hereby fixed at Three Thousand
Seven Hundred Fifty and 00100 ($31,750.00) Dollars for the general
fund and Thirteen Hundred and 00100 ($1,300.00) Dollars for
interest and payment on bonds.
Section 2. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance anc to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public health, peace and safety, and the facts constituting its
urgency are hereby stated and declared to be as follows, to-wit:
It is required by law that an ordinance be passed fixing the
amount of money necessary o be raised by taxation upon the taxable
property of the City of Beaumont, as a revenue to carry on the
various departments of the City and to pay its bonded or other
indebtedness for the current year, and that not later than the
last Tuesday in August the rate of tax be fixed; there will not
sufficient time elapse between the time of the adoption of this
ordinance and the last Tuesday in August of this year, to enable
its passage otherwise than as an emergency ordinance and have it
in effect by said last Tuesday in August when it must be in effect
in order to comply-with the law with reference to the fixing of the
rate of taxes as aforesaid, and if the rate of taxes is not so fixed,
the City will be without adequate funds to operate its various
departments during the current year and pay its bonded and interest
indebtedness, upon which depends the public health, peace and safety.
Section 3. The Clerk of this City shall certify to the passage
of tfii'sOrdin`anee and shall cause the same to be published once in
the BEAUMONT LEADER, a newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the City of Beaumont, and shall be in full force
and effect immediately.
