Section 1.
The amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon
the taxable property in the City of Beaumont as a revenue to
carry on the vari. -us departments of tl.e City of �eaunont and to
pair the bonded and interest indebtedness o-^ the City of Beaumont
for the current vear, is hereby fixed at Four Thousand Nine Hundred
Five and 40100 Dollars (54,905.40) for the 7eneral fund, and Five
Thousand Three Hundred Fifteen and 00100 Dollars 051315.00) for
interest and paynert oh bonds.
Section 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an eTM -,ergency ordi-
nance and to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public health, peace and safety, and the facts constituting* its
urgency are hereby stated and declared to be as follows, to -grit:
It is required by law that an ordinance be passed fixing the
amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable
property of the City of �L'eaumont as a revenue to carry on the
various departments of the City and to pav its bonded or other
indebtedness for the current ;Tear, and that no later than the last
Tuesdav in Aum).st the rate of tax to be fixed; there will not
suffmc�ient time elapse between the time of the adortion cf this
ordinance and the last Tuesday of August of this year, to enati.le
its passage otherwise than as an emergency ordinance ard have it

effect in order to comply with the law with reference to the
fixing of the rate of taxes as aforesaid, and if the date of taxes
is not so fixed, the City will be Prithout adequate funds to
operate its various departments during the current year and pay
its bonded and interest indebtedness, upon which depends the
public health, peace and safety.
Section_ 3.
The Clerk of this City shall certify 'to the passa?e of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the
GATEWAY GAZETTE, a newsrar_.er of general circulation, published,
ar.d circulated it the City of Leaumont, and shall be in fell
force and effect immediately.
