HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 97ORDINANCE NO. 12� AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING PORTIONS OF CERTAIN STREETS IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AS BOULEVARDS AND REGULATING TRAFFIC ENTERING OR CROSSING THE SAM. THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF BERUYONT DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Sixth Street from the East intersection line of Tagno a Avenue Westerly to the West intersection line of Grace Street, and Grace Street from the North inter- section line of Sixth Street to the South intersection line of Fifth Street, and Fifth Street from the East intersection line of Grace Street to the 77est intersection lire of Bell- wood Avenue, all in the City of Beaumont, dalifornia, are hereby designated as boulevards, and every operator of a vehicle traversing any street or avenue intersecting any of said portions of said streets herein designated as boulevards, shall stop such vehicle at the place where such street or avenue meets the nearest property line oi' said boulevards before entering the same, providing the property line is clearly marked or sign posted t6 7ive notice of such fact. Section 2. The City marshal is hereby authorized and require to place and maintain or cause to be placed or maintained on the streets and avenues, appropriate mares or sign posts upon the roadway upon each and every street or avenue entering or crossing said boulevards, such _ark-s or sign posts to bear the word "STOP" or words "BOULEVARD STOP" in such position and with letters of a size to be clearly legible from a distance of fifty feet along the street or avenue entering said boulevard. Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of thiF ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviciont thereof shall be punished for the first offense by a fine not to exceed Fifty ($50.00) Dollars, and by imprisorment in the City or County Jail for rot more than five days; for a second violation within a period of one ,year, by a fine not to exceed $100.00, or by imprisonment in the City or County Jail for not more than ten days, or by b6hh such fine or imprisonment. For the third and each additional offense committed within. one year, by a fine not to exceed $300.00 or by imprisonment in the City of County Jail for a period not to exceed two months, or by both such fine or imprisonment.
