An ordinance limiting the number of pool halls to
be permitted in the city of Beaumont.
WHEREAS it is the belief of the members of the
City Council that the population of the city of Beaumont is
not large enough to sustain in a decent manner more than two
pool halls and that if more than two pool halls should be
licensed in the city of Beaumont, all of the pool halls operat-
ing would have a tendency to degenerate into nuisances and to
breed crime and disorder by reason of the fact of their in-
ability to operate at a profit along legitimate lines.
NO'V THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
B AUL ONT DOES ORDAIN AS F0LL0`.`.'S :
Section 1. THAT the number of pool halls to be
licensed in the city of Beaumont be and the same are hereby
limited to two (2) at any one time.
Section 2. The Clerk is hereby instructed to certify
to the adoption of this ordinance and to cause the same to be
published once in the Gateway Gn Tette, a newspaper ef general
