The following are hereby established as and defined to be the fire limits within the City of Beaumont, State of California, to - wit: Beginning at the Northerly line of the right-of-way of the Southern Pacific railroad at the place of its intersection with Veile Avenue; THENCE, Northerly along Veile Avenue to a point 150 feet North of the Northerly line of Sixth Street; THENCE, Easterly on a line parallel to the Northerly line of Sixth Street to the Westerly line of California Avenue;THENCE, Southerly along the westerly line of California Avenue, to a point where said Westerly line of California Avenue intersects a line parallel with the Northerly line of Sixth Street from California Avenue east to the city limits of the City of Beaumont, and 120 feet North of said North line of Sixth Street; THENCE, East along said intersecting line, 120 feet North of the North line of Sixth Street to the city limits of the City of Beaumont; THENCE, Southerly along the said city limits to a point 120 feet South of the Southerly line of Sixth Street; THENCE, Westerly on a line p allel to ft he Southerly lane of Sixth Street and 120 feet South of the Southerly line Of Sixth Street, to a point 183 feet East of the Easterly line of California Avenue; THENCE, Southerly on a line parallel to fthe Easterly line of California Avenue! and 183 feet Eas=t" of said Easterly line to the right- of-way of the Southern Pacific railroad; THENCE, Westerly along the Northerly limits of said right-of-way to the place of beginning. SECTION II. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to construct, alter, repair, demolish, remove, use, occupy or main- tain, or to permit or suffer to be constructed, altered, repaired, demolished or removed, used, occupied or maintained within the City f Beaumont, any building or structure, or any portion thereof, con- 5712 TLCO 1 trary to any of the provisions of this ordinance. 2 SECTION III. 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to commence or proceed with the erection, construction, enlargement, raising, building upon, adding to, reconstruction, alteration, repair, removing or demolition, or to cause the same to be done, of any building or structure, or any portion thereof, within or partly with- in the fire limits unless such building or structure upon completion ill comply with the provisions of this ordinance for a class "A" uilding except as hereinafter provided in this section as follows: (a) Additions of class "A" construction,, may be made to any building within the said fire limits, and additions not exceeding twenty-five (25%) per cent of the cubical contents of an existing building may be made to any building within the fire limits of the same materials and type of construction as the existing building; provided, however, that an existing building shall mean a building which is erected, or in the course of erection, on May r2 1930. (b) A class "A" building is any building of fire -proof con- struction enclosed on all sides with walls made up wholly of stone, brick, hollow building tile, concrete, or other equivalent incombus- tible materials; and having the roof, top and sides, of all roof structures including dormer windows and cornices covered by incombus- tible materials. 23 SECTION IV . 27 28 'within 29 30 31 32 The following types of wooden structures may be erected the said fire limits as hereinafter set forth: (a) Wooden fences not over ten feet high; (b) Temporary one-story builders' sheds to facilitate the erection of any building or structure during, but not to exceed the IP eriod of the erection of the building or structure; (c) Sidewalk protection canopies during the period of the - 2- 0 F 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 erection of the building or structure they protect; 'residential purposes only, whose outer, walls are constructed throughout of metal lath and stucco, and the roof of which is covered i ;with incombustible material; provided, however, that any such resi- (d) Buildings constructed, used, occupied and maintained for dential building may not be constructed, used or maintained within twenty (20) feet of the line of the street, or within ten (10) feet of the property line on each side of the lot upon which the said residential structure is built, used or maintained. SECTION V. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to commence or proceed with the erection, construction, enlargement, raising, building upon, moving,or to use or maintain, or to cause the same to be done, of any structure or any portion thereof, within or partly within, ten (10) feet from the street line of Sixth Street from Beaumont Avenue to California Avenue, or within seventeen (17) feet from the street line of Sixth Street from California Avenue to Veile Avenue. SECTION VI. Whenever it shall be brought to the attention of the City O uneiI that any building is being constructed, altered, repaired, raised, builded upon, moved or demolished contrary to, or in viola- tion of, the provisions of this ordinance, the said City shall have the power, and is hereby authorized,to revoke the permit for such work and to order the construction, alteration, repairing, raising, building upon, moving or demolition of such building to be stopped, and to notify in writing any person in any manner engaged in or causing any such work to be done to forthwith desist therefrom, and it shall be unlawful for any person to continue or further prose- cute, or to cause the continuance or further prosecution of any such work in any manner after service of such notice unless a new permit 0 J 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 27 28 29 30 31 32 therefor shall be thereafter obtained. SECTION VII. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the pro- visions of this ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of misdemeanor and,upon conviction, shall be punishable by a fine of not less than FIFTY (050.00) AND NO/100 DOLLARS, and of not more than THREE HUNDRED (4300.00) AND NO/100 DOLLARS, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than fifty (50) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Every person, firm or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each period of ten (10) days during which any building erected, constructed, altered, repaired, raised, built upon, demolished or moved by, or for such person, firm or corporation in violation of any of the provisions of this ordi- nance, continues in such condition and for every ten (10) days dur- ing which any other violation of this ordinance by such person, firm or corporation continues, and shall be punishable therefor as herein provided. SECTION VIII. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to invalidate any other ordinance or ordinances of the City of Beaumont, State of California, which are not in direct conflict herewith. nance and SECTION IX.
