AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND DECLARING THAT WEEDS WHICH BEAR
REEDS OF A WINGY OR DOWNY NATURE OR ATTAIN SUCH A LARGE GROWTH
AS TO BECOME A FIRE MENACE WHEN DRY, OR WHICH ARE OTHERWISE
NOXIOUS OR DANGEROUS ARE GROWING UPON CERTAIN STREETS, SIDE-
WALKS AND PRIVATE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AND ARE A
PUBLIC NUISANCE, AND DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO ORDERTHE ABATEMENT OF THE SAME.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Pursuant,.to the provisions of the Act of
the Legislature Of the state of California entitled "An act author-
izing municipalities to declare noxious or dangerous weeds growing
upon the streets or sidewalks, or upon private property within
Municipalities, to be a public nuisance, creating a lien upon the
property fronting upon such streets or sidewalks or upon which such
nuisance exists for the cost of abating the same", approved May 26,
1915, the City Council of the city of Beaumont hereby determines
and declares that weeds which bear seeds of a wingy or downy nature
or attain such a large growth as to become a fire menace when dry,
nr which are otherwise noxious or dangerous are growing upon the

Section 3. That Thursday , the , day of

, 1930, at the hour of 7'3C" o'clock P. M. of said
day, is the day and hour, and the council chambers in the City Hall
in the city of Beaumont, is the place fixed by said council when
and where any and all persons having any objection to the proposed
removal of weeds may appear before the council and show cause why
said weeds shall not be removed In accordance with this ordinance.
Section 4. That the existence of weeds upon and in
front of the above described property constitutes a menace to life,
health and the safety of property, and is liable to start or
spread fire thereon, and that this ordinance is urgently required
for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and
safety, and the City Clerk shall certify to its passage by a unani-
mous vote and cause the same to be published once in the Beaumont
Gazette, and thereupon and thereafter it shall take effect and be
in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was
passed by the council of the city of Beaumont by the unanimous
vote of all the members of said council, there being Five
members present at its meeting of July Tenth , 1930.
