AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE RAISED
BY TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
FOR THE YEAR 1930-31.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUYONT JOEORDAIN AS FOLLOJS:
SECTION 1. The amount of money necessary to be raised by taxa-
tion upon the taxable property in the City of
Beaumont as a revenue to carry on the varius departqlents of
the City of Beaumont and to pay the bonded and interest indebt-
edness of the City of Beaumont for the year 1930-31 is hereby
fixed at Five thousand three hundred fourteen and 10/100ths
dollars (45,314.10) for the general fund and Four thausand
five hundred sixteen and 98/100ths dollars (0,516.98) for
interest and payment of bonds.
SECTION 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emer-
gency ordinance and to be necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health, peace and safety
and the facts constituting its uri;ency are hereby stated and
declared to be as follows, to -wit:
It is required by law that an ordinance be passed fixing the
amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the
taxable proprty of the City of Beaum nt as a revenue to
c,rry an the v-ri)us denarttients of the City and to bry its
bonded and other indebtedness for the year 1930-31, and that
not later than the last Tuesday in August the rte of tax must
be fixed; there will not sufficient tilde elapse between the
time for the adoption of this ordinance and the last Tuesday
in August of this year to enable its passage otherwise than
es an emergency ordinance end have it in effect by said last
Tuesday in August, when it must be in effect in order to com-
ply with the law in reference to the fixinc of the rate of
taxes as aforesaid, and if the rate of taxes is not so fixed,
the City will be without adequate funds to operate its various
departments during the year 1930-31 and pay its bonded and
interest indebtedness, upon which depends the riablic health,
peace and safety.
SECTION 3. The Cit7 Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this Ordinance and cause the sane to
be.puhlihed once in the Beaumont Gazet te, a newspaper of ceneral
circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of

be in full force and effect.
