AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE RAISED
BY TAXATION UPON TH7 TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
AND SPECIAL ASSESSMENT TAX FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE BEAUMONT
LIGHTING MAINTENANCE DISTRICT FOR THE COMING YEAR
The City Council of the City of Beaumont does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The amount of money necessary to be raised by taxa-
tion upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont and to pay the
bonded and interest indebtedness of the City of Beaumont for the year
1932-33 is hereby fixed at Four thousand two hundred ninety-one and
60/100 dollars ($4291.60) for the General Fund, and Four thousand four
hundred seven and 25/100 dollars ($4407.25) for interest and payment
of bonds, also Two thousand three hundred dollars ($2300.00) for main-
tenance and operation of the Beaumont Lighting Maintenance District, to
be raised by special assessment tax upon the lands (exclusive of im-
provements) lying within the borders of said Beaumont Lighting Mainten-
ance District.
SECTION 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance and to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public health, peace and safety, and the facts constituting its urgency
are hereby declared and stated to be as follows, to wit:
It is required by law that an ordinance be passed fixing the amount
of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property
of the City of Beaumont as a revenue to carry on the various depart-
ments of the City, and to pay its bonded and other indebtedness for the
year 1932-33, and that not later than the last Tuesday in August the
rate of tax must be fixed; there will not be sufficient time elapse
between the time for the adoption of this ordinance and the last Tues-
day in August of this year to enable its passage otherwise than as an
emergency ordinance and have it in effect by said last Tuesday in
August, when it must be in affect in order to comply w ith the law in

reference to the fixing the rate of taxes as aforesaid, and if the
rate of taxes is not so fixed, the City will be without adequate funds
to operate its various departments during the year 1932-33 and pay its
bonded and interest indebtedness, upon which depends the public health,
peace and safety.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adop-
tion of this ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the
Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, publish-
ed, and circulated in the City of Beaumont, and thereupon and there-
after it shall immediately be in full force and effect.
I, Frank Richardson, the duly elected, qualified and acting Clerk
of the City of Beaumont, California, do hereby certify that the fore-
going ordinance was regularly introduced on the /0v-;\ day of
