nn ordinance to oe knotivn as the -Electrical Code of the
City of Beaumont, creating the office of City Electrical Inspector
and prescribing his duties; providing for the issuing of elecric
permits and inspections and fixing the fees therefor; regulating
the installation, arrangement, alteration, repair, maintenance and
operation of electric wiring, electric fixtures and other electric
appliances and e i.uipment in the City of Beaumont, State of California,
providing a penalty for the violation of the same and repealing or-
dinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance.
The City Council of the City o: :Jea.umont does ordain as
follows:

That a certain document three copies of which are on file
in the office of the City Clerk of the City oi Beaumont, being
marked and designated as "Standard Electrical Code 1962, published
uy rcici:iic Coast Electrical Bureau, endorsed. by Southwestern Section
International 1_ssociation of Electrical Inspectors," be and the same
is,subject to the amendments herein provided, he eby adopted as the
lectrical Code of the City of Beaumont; providing for the issuance
of electrical permits and: or inspections and fixing the fees there-
for, regulating the installation, arrangement, alteration, repair,
maintenance and operation of elect ical wiring, electric fixtures
aiid other electric appliances and equipment in the City of Beaumont,
providing penalties for the violation oi same and repealing all
ordinances or parts o ordinances in conflict wi th this ordinance;
and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, con-
ditions or terms of such Standard .Electrical Code, 1962 tui tion,
published by the i'acific Coast Electrical Bureau, and the fees
therein fixed and determined by this Souncill are hereby referred to,
adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this

There is hereby created and established the office of City
Electrical Inspector. The person chosen to fill the office of City
Electrical Inspector shall be a competent electrician of gaod moral
Character, and shall be well versed in approved methods of electri-
cal construction for safety to life and property, the statutes of
the Jtate of California relating to electrical work, the electrical
rules and regulations issued under authority of the statutes overn-
irg industrial installations, the :Cational Electrical Code as
approved by the 1-raerican Standards .<<ssociation, and electrical rules
of the 3oard of .Fire Underwriters of the �acif ic.
_:.ppointment, Salary, etc.
:paid City Electrical inspector shall be appointed by the
E:ayor by and with th the advice and consent of the City Council. He
shall receive a salary as determined by the City Council. The City
Electrical inspector shall also take and subscribe an oath which to-
e ther with the cerciicate of his appointment shall be filed with
th
the City Clerk. :He shall be removed from office at the ,pleasure of
and by the City Council. It shall be unlawful for the City Electri-
cal Inspector to engage in the business of the sale, installation or
the maintenance oi electric wiring, electric devices and electric
material either directly or indirectly and he shall have no financial
interests in any concern enaged in such business in the City of
Beaumont at any time while holding office of City Electrical Inspec-
tor. The City Council shall appoint, by and-v.ith the advice of the
City Electrical Inspector, such assistant inspectors as are deemed

This ordinance is Jul ordinance or the immediate preserva-
tion of public peace, health and safety and the facts constituting
its urgency are declared to oe as follows:
The City of Beaumont is wi thout an adequate electrical
ordinance to take care of rapidly building conditions in the City
and to take care of the existing dangerous conditions with respect
to electrical wirin12. and electrical instalia .ions, all of which
are and constitute a fire hazard dangerous to public sa ety and
property' in general and must be in efiect oeibre the first day of
.::ay, 1964, in order that the health, peace, safety and best interests
of the City Beaumont oe preserved.

Ale City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this or-
dinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the
a eaunont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, pub-
lished and circulated in the City of 3eaumont, and it shall oe in
effect immeuaitely alter its adoption.
