-CT= 1. The a count of money necessary to be raised
by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont,
exclusive of all sums to be raised to pay the bcr;.ded and interest
indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, as a revenue to carry on the
various departments of the City of Beaumont for the current year, i
hereby fixed at , and the amocint to be raised to
pay the bonded and interest indebtedness of the City of Beaumont
for the current year is hereby fixed et
>ECTION 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
merG ency ordinance and to be necessary for the immediate preserva-
tion of the Public peace, health and safety and the facts consti-
�uting its urgency are hereby stated and declared to be as follows:
It is required by law that an ordinance be passed fixing
the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon
the taxable property in the City of i,eaumont as a revenue
to carry on the various departments of the city and to pay
its bonded and other indebtedness fon the current year,
rnd_ that no later than the last Tuesday in Auust he rate
of tax be fixed; there will not sufficient time elapse ,-e-
tween the time of the adoption of this ord7_nance and the
last Tuesday in l_u ust of this year to enable its passage
otherwise than as an emergency ordinance and have it in
effect by said last Tuesday in August, when it must be in
e f ect in order to comply with the law with reference to
bhe fixing of the rate of taxea as aforesaid. If the
rate of taxes is not so :fixed, the City will be without
adeouate funds to operate its varices departments during
the current year and pay its bonded and other indebtedness,
upon which depends the public health, peace and safety.
ShCTION 3. The Clerk of this City shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same
to be published once in the ieaumont Gazette, a newspaper of genera
circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of
i7eaumont and shall be in full force and effect immediately.
