AN ORDIN"ANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT CREATING THE
OFFICE OF HEALTH (B'FICER AND DEFINING THE DUTIES OF HEALTH
OFFICER.
The City Council of the City of Beaumont do ordain
as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby created in the City of
Beaumont the office of Health Officer.
Section 2. The Chief of Police of the City of
Beaumont shall be ex officio Health Officer, and all
other members of the police force of the City of Beaumont
shall be ex officio deputy health officers.
Sectio>re 3 , The Health Officer and deputies shall not
receive any compensation for their services as health
officers additional to that paid them as police officers.
Section. 1.. It shall be the duty of the Health Officer
and deputies to enforce and observe:
(a) All orders of the City Council and ordinances
of the City of Eeaumcnt pertaining to health and/or
sanitary tters.
(b) Ali orders, quarantine and ether rules and
regulations of the Pcard of Heal ,,off fc�
Q rnia.
(c) / 17. laws of the `tate di Coliorn is/rela Ing to
the public health and to vital statist ics.
(d) All ordinances of the County of Riverside pert::. fin-
ing to heE-1th or sanitary matters.
Section 5. It shall be the duty of the Health Officer
and deputies to make all reports to the Baird of Health of
the State of California required by said board at the tie and
in the manner provided by law or said board.
Sect ion 6. It shall be the duty of the Health Off icer
and deputies, and they are hereby authorized, to quarantine
all cases of contagious, infectious or communicable disease.
Section 7. It shall be the duty of the Health Officer
and his deputies, and they are hereby authorized, to estab-
lish quarantine district or districts tin case of epidemic
of cont .gious, infectious or communicable disease.
Section 8. Quarantine shall be established, placarded
and raised in the manner provided by the Board of Health of
the State of California.

Section 9. A11 cases of contagious, infectious or
communicable disease are hereby declared quara,ntinable.
Section 10. All the orders, rules and regulations
of the Board cf Health of the State of California are hereby
adopted as the orders, rules and regulations of the City
Council of the City of Beaumont pertG ining to health and
sanitary matters.
Section 11. Any violation of the lawf'ui order of
the Health Officer or his deputies, or of the rules, regula-
tions or orders of the Poard of Health of the State of
California, is hereby declared to be a misdemeanor, and is
punishable by a fine of not less than five dollars nor
mere than two hundred dollars, or imprisonment in the City
Jail for not less; than one or more than sixty days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment.
Section 12. It shall be the duty of all persons to
Observe and obey all the lawful orders of the Health Officer
or his deputies and all orders, rules and regulations of
the Pox rd of Health of the State of California.
Section 13. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adopticn of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be
published cnce in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of
general circu.lati e, printed and published in the City of
Beaumont, and thirty days after adoption this ordinance shall
be in full force and effect.
