AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA,
ORDERING, CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING
NOTICE OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE
SAID CITY ON THE 6th day of DECEMBER, 1935, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS
OF SAID CITY A PROPOSITION TO INCUR A BONDED
INDEBTEDNESS FOR THE ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION
AND COMPLETION OF A CERTAIN MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont on
the 4th day of November, 1935, at a special meeting called
for that purpose, by a vote of more than twothirds of the
members thereof duly adopted its Resolution No. 494+, en-
titled "a RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND NECESSIT
DEMANDS THE CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF A MUNICIPAL
BUILDING AND ACQUISITION OF THELAND NECESSARY THEREFOR",
which said resolution stated the estimated cost of said
improvement and that the cost of said improvement is and
will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual
income and revenue of said city, and which resolution was
duly signed and approved by the mayor of said city and
attested and certified by the City Clerk of said city;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Beaumont
does ordain:
Section 1. That a special election be held and the same
is hereby called to be held in the City of Beaumont on the 6th
day of December, 1935, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters of said city a proposition to incur a bonded
indent edness and to issue bonds of said city in the amount

ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT PROVIDING FOR THE TIME
WITHIN WHICH CLAIMS OR DEMANDS AGAINST THE CITY SHALL BE
PRESENTED AND TEE FORM THEREOF AND MANNER OF PRESENTAT ION
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. No claim or demand against the City of
Beaumont, whether in tort or in contract, shall be allar0
by the City Council or an order or warrant ordered drawn
to pay the s&me at any time other than at a regular meeting
of the City Council or a special meeting called for such
purpose nor unless the ola imant shall have presented to and
filed with the City Clerk of the City of Beaumont, within
months after the performing of the services or the
orris ing of the supplies or materials or the happening
of the circumstances giving rise to the injuries or damages
sustained, on which the claim or demand is lased,an itemized
statement of the claim or demand, in writing, giving the
dates when the services were rendered, goods, merchandise
or supplies furnished, or injuries or damages sustained,
character of work done or goods, merchandise or supplies
furnished or injuries or damages sustained, to whom furnished
with the quantity and price, place where and manner in It ich
injuries or damages were sustained, as the case may be, which
claim or demand must be verified by the affidavit of the
claimant or some competent person on his behalf sworn to
before an officer qualified to administer an oath, stating
that the items claimed 3n said demand or claim are true and
correct, and that no part thereof has been paid; and if the
work was done for, or the supplies or goods or merchandise
furnished to, any official of the City of Beaumont or com-
mittee of this Council in its official capacity, such claim
or demand must also bear the written approval of such official
or of the Chairman of such Committee; provided, however, that
an order or warrant may be drawn for payment of the regular
monthly salaries of all officials or employees of the City
of Beaumont, and in payment of bonds issued by the City, without
the necessity of a claim or demand therefor being filed in
the manner, time and form above set forth.
Section 2. A11 ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be published
once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circula-
tion, printed, published and circulated in the City of Beaumont,
and thirty days after adoption it shall be in full force and
effect.

Section 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be
published once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of
general circulation printed, published and circulated in
the City of Beaumont, and thirty days after its adoption,
it shall be in full force and effect, provided said signs
provided for in this at:linance have been erected, and if not,
it shall become effect when said signs are erected.

Fifth Street to the easterly line of California Avenue;
thence northwesterly to a point on the westerly line of
grace Avenue 150 feet south of the southerly line of Fifth
Street; thence northwesterly parallel with and 150 feet
south of the southerly line of West Fifth Street to the
westerly City Limits or boundary; thence northeasterly
along the westerly city limits or boundary 732 feet to a
point; thence southeasterly to the point of beginning.
Fire Zone 2 shall include the area 120 feet in
depth on each side of Sixth Street from Orange Avenue
to the East City Limits or boundary of the City of Beaumont
Section 2. Subsection (b) of Section 1603 of the
"Uniform Building Code, 1930 Edition" as adopted by the
City of Beaumont by Ordinance No. 14+4, is hereby repealed.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be
published once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of
general circulation, printed and published in the City of
Beaumont, and thirty days after adoption this ordinance
shall be in full force and effect.
