ORDINANCE NO. 163.
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT PROVIDING FOR
BOULEVARD STOPS AT CFRTAIN INTFRSFCTIONS AND OTHER TRAFFIC
SIGNS.
The City Council of the City of Beaumont do ordain as
follows:
Section 1. The intersection of Eighth Street and
Beaumont Avenue, in the City of Beaumont, is hereby declared
to be a boulevard atop intersection, and all vehicles are
required to come to a stop before entering said intersection,
and there is hereby authorized and directed to be erected on
the right-hand side of the four entrances of said intersection,
near the curb, a boulevard stop sign of the type, lettering
and dimensions required by the Vehicle Code of the State of
California, and at the height provided by the laws of the
State of California.
Section 2. That Eighth St4!eet at the intersection of
California Avenue, in the City of Beaumont, is hereby declared
a through street, and all vehicles entering said Eighth Street
from California Avenue are required to come to a stop before
entering onto Eighth Street; and there is hereby authorized and
directed to be erected on the right-hand side of California
Avenue, near the curb, a boulevard stop sign of the type,
lettering and dimensions and at the height required by the
provisions of the Vehicle Code of the State of C lifornia.
Section 3. That if the Department of Public Works,
Division of Highways, of the State of California, consents
thereto and authorizes it, there shall be placed at the
intersection, of West 5th Street and Grace Avenue, in the City
of Beaumont, and at the intersection of West 5th Street and
Egan A venue, in the City of Beaumont, traffic signs bearing
the lettering, to wit: "STOP r'HEN PEDESTRIANS ARE IN CROSS
WALK" and 'NO U TURN", which signs shall be of the type,
dimensions and height provided by the laws of the State of
California.
Section 4. That there is hereby authorized and directed
24 to be placed and elected on the right-hand sides of Seventh
Street and 3eaumont Avenue near said intersection traffic
signs of the dimensions, type and height provided by law
bearing the lettering "SLOW".
Section 5. That it is hereby declared unlawful for
27 the operator of any vehicle to fail or neglect to obey the
warning and direction on said signs.
Section 6, That the violation of any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed and is hereby made a mis-
demeanor, and shall be punished by a fine of not more than
fifty dollars, or imprisonment in the City Jail for not more
than thirty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
