HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 1651 2 3 4 5 e 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 ORDINANCE NO. 165 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE CURRENT YEAR. THE CITY COUNCIL OF TETE CITY OF BEAUMONT DO ORDAIN AS FOLLO"`S: Section 1. The amount of money necessary to 'oe raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont, exclusive of all sums to be raised to pay the bonded and interest indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, as a revenue to carry on the various departments of the City of Beaumont for the current year, is hereby fixed at $7641,60; and the amount to be raised to pay the bonded and interest indebtedness of the City of Beaumont for the current year is hereby fixed at $2674.56; and the amount to be raised for the Lighting Maintenance Fund of the City of Beaumont for the current year is hereby fixed at $2323.80; and the amount to be raised for the delinquencies on the 1915 Improveient Bond Act bonds of the City of Beaumont outstanding are as follows: On Series A, B and C bonds the sum of $764.16; On Series E bonds the sum of 764.16; On Series G bonds the sum of 76 4.16. Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance and to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and the facts constituting its urgenoy are hereby stated and declared to be as follows: It is required by law that an ordinance be passed fixing the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont as a revenue to carry on the various departments of the City Government and to pay its bonded and other indebtedness for the current year, and that no later than the last Tuesday in August the rate of tax be fixed; and there will not be sufficient time elapse between the time of the adoption of this ordinance and the last Tuesday in August of this year to enable its passage otherwise than as an emergency ordinance and bre it in effect by said last Tuesday in August, when it must be in effect in order to comply with the law with reference to the fixing of the rate of taxes and amount as aforesaid. If the rate of taxes is not so fixed, the City of aBeaurnont will be without adequate funds to operate its var- ious departments of government during the current year and to pay its bonded and other indebtedness, upon which depands the public health, peace and safety. Section 3, The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adcv t ion of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be published once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Beaumont, and it shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption.
