ORDINANCE NO. 159.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT= AMENDING SECTION
10 and Section 4 of THE FIRST PLUMBINGCODE OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, Ordinance No. 111, and adding thereto.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Section 10 of the First Plumbing Code
of the City of Beaumont, Ordinance No. 111 of the City of
Beaumont, adopted December 27 1925, be and it is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 10. Fees. Before any permit required by this
ordinance is issued., the applicant therefor shall pay to the
Building Inspector the following fees for each building or
structure, to wit:
Each house sewer, cess pool, septic tank, gas
water heater or vent, the sum of .25
For plumbing piping, with)ut fixtures, the sum of .50
For each plumbing fixture,: the sum of .10
For each permit the sum of .50
EXCEPT, that in cases where the reasonable
value or cost of the work and material is less than
Ten Dollars no fee or fees shall be charged; and
EXCEPT, that in cases of new construction where
a building permit is taken out under the provisions of
the Uniform Building Code adopted by the City of Beaumont
and the fees therein provided for paid, no additional
fees for plumbing permit shall be charged, but an inspec-
tion fee of $1.00 shall be charged and paid for iasuanoe
of the plumbing permit for such construction.
Before any "Certificate of Qualification" is issued
or renewed, the applicant therefor shall pay to the Building
Inspector the fee r)rovided therefor in this ordinance.
For the purposes of this section a sanitary plumbing
outlet, on which or to which a plumbing fixture may be set
or attached, shall be deemed and construed to be a plumbing
fixture.
All fees collected under the provisions of this ordinance
shall be deposited by the Building Inspector with the City
Clerk, unless otherwise provided herein, the next business
day following the collection of such fee or money.
Section 2. That portion of Section 4 of said Ordinance
No. 111 defining "Journeyman Plumber" be and it is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Journeyman Plumber" shall mean any person, except an
apprentice, doing, performing or installing any construction
or work as defined in this ordinance for a master plumber,
and who is working under the direct supervision, and in the
employ of a master plumber as defined in this section.

Section 3.
The following provisions are added to said
First Plumbing Code adopted by Ordinance No. 111 of the
City of Beaumont, to wit:
(a) A11 connections to sewers, septic tanks and
cess pools shall be standard cast iron soil pipe connected
together in oakum and molten lead.
(b) In making connections to main sewer line where
there is no "Y" an approved pipe "Y" branch shall be
installed.
(o) The term "plumbing" as used in said Code shall
include installation of lawn sprinkler systems.
(d) In cases where an old or already constructed
building is moved and set on another location it shall
be plumbed in accordance with said First Plumbing; Code
and with the minimum number of fixtures provided by law
and ordinance.
(e) Installation of piping in and about the repair
and construction of gasoline filling or service stations
shall be included in the term "plumbing" as used in this
Code. All piping in and about the construction and repair
of gasoline or filling service stations shall have swing
joints at each turn, and all unions shall be ground joint
unions.
(f) Roof flashings for use with gas or oil burning
apliances shall be "A" type.
(g) The foregoing provisions shall supersede any
provisions in said First Plumbing Code conflicting therewith,
and any such conflicting _:provisions are hereby repealed.

Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Ordinance, and cause it to be published
once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general cir-
culation printed and published at Beaumont, California,
and thirty days after adoption it shall be in full force
and effect.
