AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE CURRENT YEAR, 1940-1941. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont, exclusive of all Mums to be raised to pay the bonded and interest indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, as a revenue to carry on the various departments of the City of Beaumont for the current year, 19+0-1941, is hereby fixed at .405.40; and the amount necessary to be raised to pay the bonded and interest indebtedness of the City of Beaumont for the current year 1940-1941 is hereby fixed at 7145.01; and the amount necessary to be raised for the maintenance and operation of the Lighting Maintenance District formed and existing under the provisions of the Municipal Lighting Maintenance District Act of 1927 is hereby fixed at 4;2067.30; and the amount necessary to be raised for delinquencies on bonds of the City of Beaumont issued under th Improvement Bond Act of 1915 is as follows: On Series A bonds the num of $840.59; On Series D bonds the sum of 840.59; On Series E bonds the sum of 540.59; On Series F bonds the sum of 40.59; On Series G bonds the sum of $840.59; and the amount necessary to be raised for the acquisition, maintenance and improvement of public parks of the City of Beaumont is $840.59. Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance, and to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and the facts constituting its urgency are hereby stated and declared to be as follows: It is required by law that an ordinance be passed fixing the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont as a revenue to carry on the various departments of the government of the City of Beaumont and to pay its bonded and other indebtedness for the current year, 1940-1941, and that no later than t#e last Tuesday in August the rate of tax be fixed; and there will not be sufficient time elapse between the time of the passage of this ordinance and the last Tuesday in August of this year, 1940, to enable its passage otherwise than as an emergency ordinance and have it in effect by said last Tuesday in August, 1940, when it must be in effect in order to comply with the law with reference to the fixing; of the rate of taxes and amo;:.nt as aforesaid; anu, if the rate of taxes is not so fixed within the time ,•rovided by law, the City of Beaumont will be without adequate funds to operate its various departments of government during the current year 1940-1941 and to pay its bonded and other indebtedness, upon which depends the public health, peace and safety. -1- Section 3. The. City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be published once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circula- tion printed and published weekly in Beaumont, California, and it shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
