AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
SECTION 2 -4 -13 REGARDING EMPLOYEE LEAVE FOR HOLIDAYS
FOR THE CITY OF TYBEE ISLAND, GEORGIA
WHEREAS, the duly elected governing authority for the City of Tybee Island,
Georgia, is authorized under Article 9, Section 2, Paragraph 3 of the Constitution of the
State of Georgia to adopt reasonable ordinances to protect and improve the public health,
safety, and welfare of the citizens of Tybee Island, Georgia, and
WHEREAS, the duly elected governing authority for the City of Tybee Island,
Georgia, is the Mayor and Council thereof, and
WHEREAS, the governing authority desires to adopt an ordinance under its home
rule powers, and
WHEREAS, the governing authority desires to amend the Code of Ordinances for
the City of Tybee Island, Georgia, regarding employee leave for holidays.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the governing authority of the City of
Tybee Island that Section 2 -4 -13 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Tybee Island is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2- 4 -13(g) Holiday Leave. The City observes paid holidays each year in
accordance with the following:
1. The following are observed as paid holidays: New Year's Day; President's
Day; Mayor's Employee Appreciation Day (March 17); Memorial Day; Independence
Day; Labor Day; Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday; Thanksgiving Day and Friday after
Thanksgiving Day; and Christmas Day.
2. Each employee has the option of observing their own birthday in lieu of
observing President's Day. If an employee elects to take his own birthday in lieu of
President's Day, the day off must be taken within three days of the actual birthday date.
All paragraphs hereof may be renumbered to remain consistent with the sections
of the code.
This Ordinance shall become effective on day of _ / , _ 0__ , ; ,
