HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 266ORDINANCE NO. 266 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 253 OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT BY INCREAS- ING CERTAIN RATES OR FEES AS THEREIN SET FORTH. The City Council of the City of Beaumont does hereby or- dain as follows, to wit: 1. That Section 3 (a) of said Ordinance be, and the same is hereby, amended to read, en toto, as follows, to wit: The owner of every dog within the incorporated area of the City of Beaumont shall pay annually a license tax thereon at the rate of Two Dollars ($2, 00) for each male dog or spayed female dog and Four Dollars ($4.00) for each unspayed female dog. The foregoing license tax shall not apply to any dog while kept or main- tained exclusively in a kennel. 2. That Section 6 (a) of said Ordinance be, and pie same is hereby, amended to read, en toto, as follows, to wit: No impounded doh sha i be redeemed except upon pay - ment of a pound fee in the sum of Two and 50/100 ($2.50) dollars , plus a care and feeding charge of One Dollar ($1.00) for each day the dog has been impounded, together with charges for seizing and trans- porting said dog to the pound. No dog which is to be kept or har- bored within any area affected by this Ordinance shall be released from the Dog Pound unless it is licensed. No unredeemed dog shall be sold for more than the pound fee plus the cost of care, feeding, seizing and transporting said dog to the pound; provided, however, that no such dog shall be sold if or while the same is suffering from any infections or communicable disease. 3. That the following be an addenda to Paragraph 6 of said Ordinance 253 and designated as subdivision '°(t7" (9 in addition to any fees, charges or licenses paid or to be paid herein, there shall be levied a charge of Two and 50/100 ($2.50) Dollars upon any person or persons recovering a dog from said Pound as and for expenses for seizing, receiving, taking up and transporting a dog from the place of such seizing, receiving, taking up and transporting to the Pound. 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Or- dinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Beau- mont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Beaumont, and thirty (30) days after its Page 1. adoption this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect.
