HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 269ORDINANCE NO. AN GRDINANCE OF THE CITY GF BEAUMONT PROHIBITING GAMING, NGT INCLUDED IN SECTIGN 330 GF THE PENAL CODE OF CALIFORNIA. The City Council of the City of Beaumont does ordain as follows: Section 1. Every person who deals, plays or carries on, opens or causes to be opened, or who conducts, either as owner or employee, whether for hire or not, any game not mentioned or in- cluded in Section 330, of the Penal Code of the State of California, played with cards, dice, or any other device of whatsoever nature, for money, checks, credit, merchandise, or other representative of value, and every person who plays or bets at or against any of said prohibited games, is guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be punished by a fine of not less than two hundred ($200.00) dollars, nor more than five hundred ($500.00) dollars or by imprisonment in the City Jail not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 2. Every person who, knowingly, permits any of the games mentioned in Section 1 hereof to be played, conducted or dealt in any house owned or rented by such person, in whole or in part, is punishable as provided in Section 1 hereof. Section 3. This ordinance, rescinding all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, shall take effect thirty (30) days from the passage hereof, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage hereof, shall be published once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, -1- printed and published in the City of Beaumont.
