THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES ORDAIN WHEREAS, the County Auditor of the County of Riverside, State of California, did before the second Monday of August,1954,in co pli. ance with law, transmit to the City Council of the City of Beaum t, California, a statement in writing showing the total value of al taxable property within the City of Beaumont, duly ascertained f on the assessment books of said County of Riverside for the fiscal ear 1954-55, as equalized and corrected by the Board of Supervisors o the County of Riverside; and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City of Beaumont did, pridr to the adoption of this Ordinance, duly pass and adopt an Ordinance of the City of Beaumont fixing thereby and therein the amount of money to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of Beaumont, as a revenue to carry on the various departments of the government of the said City of Beaumont for the fiscal year 1954-55, as follows: For the For the For the For the General Fund, the sum of $27,718.92; Bonded and Interest Indebtedness, the sum of $0,159.176; Lighting Maintenance Fund, the sum of $4,409.56; Public Parks Fund, the sum of $3,079.88. Section 1. That the rate of taxes, which said taxes are to be raised by taxation on the taxable property in the City of Beau ont as a revenue to carry on the various departments of government of the City of Beaumont for the fiscal year 1954-55, using as a basis t value of the taxable property of the City of Beaumont as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of Riverside, as the same ha been equalized, and so returned by the County of Riverside, as re quired by law, be and the same is hereby fixed as follows, to wit: For the General Fund, 90/ upon each one hundred dollars of s ch taxable property; For the Bonded and Interest Fund, 20¢ upon each one hundred dolla s of such taxable property; For the Lighting Maintenance Fund, 80¢ upon each one hundred dollars of such taxable real estate, exclusive of improvements; For the Public Parks Fund, 10¢ upon each one hundred dollars of such taxable property. Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance, and to be necessary for the immediate preser vation of the public peace, health and safety, and the facts con- stituting its urgency are hereby stated and declared to be as fol ow, It is required by law that an ordinance be adopted fixing th amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxab e property in the City of Beaumont as a revenue to carry on the var ous departments of the government of the City of Beaumont and to pay is bonded and other indebtedness and expenses for the fiscal year 19 4- 55, and that no later than the last Tuesday in August the rate of tae be fixed; and there will not be sufficient time elapse between the time of the adoption of this ordinance and the last Tuesday in August of this year to enable its passage otherwise than as an emergency ordinance and have it in effect by said last Tuesday in August, when it must be in effect in order to comply with the law with reference to the fixing of the rate of taxes of said City of Beaumont for the fiscal year 1954-55; and if said rate is not fixed the City of Beaumont will be without funds with which to operate its various departments of government, and to pay its bonded and other indebtedness and expenses, up- on which depands the public health, peace and safety. Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be published once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Beaumont, and is shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its ad- option. Section la.. The City Clerk shall transmit to the County Auditor of the County of Riverside, California, a statement of the rates herein fixed.
