AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEs Ulti ONT, REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 243 AND AMENDING SECTION II OF
ORDIN.NCE NO. 240 OF TEE CITY OF BEAUYONT, BOTH
RELATING TO LICENSE FEES.
TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUIV0WP, CALIFORNIA,
,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: That Ordinance No. 243 of the City of Beaumont
be and the same is hereby repealed,
SECTION II: That Section II of Ordinance No. 240 of the
City of Beaumont be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
LIC.NSE FEES, amount of: The rate of license fees are hereby fixed
as follows, to -wit:
CONTRACTOR, having a regularly established place of business
as shown by the address on his State License in the City of
Beaumont, per annum 50.00
CONTRACTOR not having an established place of business in
the City of Beaumont as shown by the address on his State
license, per annum $ 100.00
SUBCONTRACTOR having a regularly established place of busi
ness in the City of Beaumont as shown by the address on
his State License, per annum $ 50.00
SUBCONTh.CTOR not having an established place of business
in the City of Beaumont as shown by the address on his
State License, per annum 4 100.00
For the purpose of this Ordinance, "Contractor"
shall mean every person who for either a fixed sur., price,
fee, percentage or other compensation, other than wages,
undertakes or offers to undertake with another, to construct,
alter, repair, add to or improve a-7, building, hiChway, road,
excavation or other structure, project, developient or im-
orovement, other than to personalty ( but not including any-
one who merely furnishes materials or supplies without
fabricating the same into, or consuming the same in theer-
f;-3r,lance of the work of the contractor as herein defined).
For the purpose of this Ordinance, "Subcontractor"
shall mean every contractor who under a general contractor
or another subcontractor takes part in the construction,
alteration, repair, addition to or improvement of, any
building, highway, road, excavation or other structure, project,
development or improvement, as above set forth.

Rooming House business, 3 to 15 rooms, per year 24.00
Rooming House business,15 rooms or over, per year 4 36.00
Peddler, per year 4100.00
Retail Solicitor, per year w 50.00
PROVIDED, however, the license fee of such a
retail solicitor, if his principal olace of busi-
ness shall be in a community, location or city
other than the City of Beaumont, such fee shall
be per year 4100.00
Itinerant Vendor, per day $ 8.00
Circus, per day, 50.00
Sideshow or carnival, per day 50.00
Fortune Teller, per quarter, 300.00
Retail Business by Vehicle, per year,. ...... .... *40 0 48.00
Wholesale Business by Vehicle, per year, 12.00
advertising vehicle, per day, 4 2.50
On Sale Liquor business, per year, p 100.00
Coin operated machine business, per year 4 100.00
A11 other businesses not hereinabove specifi-
cally enumerated, per year, $ 24.00
PROVIDED those businesses in which labor is
the chief activity and a stock of goods is not
carried for sale or sold, the license fee
shall be, per year, 24.00
SECTION III: This Ordinance shall become effective and be in full
force and effect thirty (30) days after its adoption, and thereupon
the license fees so charged shall be computed as of the beginning of
the fiscal year for Beaumont, to -wit, July lst, and shall be adjusted
as of that date so that all license fees shall be due and payable on
July 1st of each year at the rates hereby established, and shall be
adjusted at the annual rate from and after the effective date of
this ordinance.
SECTION IV: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once within
fifteen (15) days from the date of its passage in the Beaumont
Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in the City of Beaumont, and thirty (30) days after its
adoption, this Ordinance shall ue in full force and effect.

California, hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance, being
Ordinance No. 280 of the City of Beaumont, was introduced and
read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City, duly
held on the 31st. day of May,1956, and that the same was duly
passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said
City duly held on the 13th. day of June,1956, by the following vote:
A.YES: Councilmen: Nunez, Ward, Bridges, Carman and Coverdale.,
NOES: Councilmen:None.
ABSENT: Councilmen: None.
