AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE TO BE KNOWN AS THE 1998
FIREFIGHTER AND POLICE OFFICER SALARY ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-8-3-3(d) requires Common Council to fix the annual
compensation of all police officers and fire fighters; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond through its Board of Public Works and Safety and
John Hennigar Lodge No. 63 of the Fraternal Order of Police have reached
an agreement on salary levels for 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond through its Board of Public Works and Safety and
Richmond Professional Firefighters, Inc. AFL-CIO Local 1408 have
reached an agreement on salary levels for 1998.
NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, that the following positions be compensated not in excess of the
respective sums hereafter set forth during calendar year 1998, to wit:
Section 1 - Police Department

1.06 Additional Compensation. In addition to the bi-weekly salaries set forth in
Sections 1.01 through 1.05 above, all benefits agreed upon in the Agreement dated
November 9, 1995 and supplemented by the Addendum dated November 6, 1997
between the City of Richmond, Indiana and John Hennigar Lodge No. 63 of the Fraternal
Order of Police are hereby incorporated by reference. Pension benefits will be paid as
determined by Indiana Code, the local pension board, and the bargaining agreement as
may be in effect from time to time.
Section 2 - Fire Department

2.01 Fire Prevention Specialist (2) 1,185.00
2.02 Lieutenant (24) 1,185.00
2.03 Engineer (24) 1,138.00
2.04 Firefighter I (24) 1,088.00
2.05 Firefighter II 1,074.00
2.06 Probationary Firefighter 999.00
2.07 Additional Compensation. In addition to the bi-weekly salaries set forth in
Sections 2.01 through 2.06 above, all benefits agreed upon in the Professional
Negotiation Agreement dated the 16`h and 30`h days of January 1997 and supplemented by
the Addendum dated November 6, 1997 between the City of Richmond, Indiana and
Richmond Professional Firefighters, Inc. AFL-CIO Local 1408 are hereby incorporated by
reference. Pension benefits will be paid as determined by Indiana Code, the local pension
board, and the bargaining agreement as may be in effect from time to time.
