AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA,
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 259 OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE
OF THE "INLAND EMPIRE ELECTRICAL CODE, 1957 EDITION,"
SPONSORED BY THE INLAND EMPIRE ELECTRICAL ASSOCIA-
TION, AS THE ELCTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF.
The City Council of the City of Beaumont, California, does
hereby ordain as follows:
Section 1: Ordinance No. 259 of the City of Beaumont, and
all other ordinances
are hereby repealed.
Section 2: (A) ADOPTION OF ELECTRICAL CODE. The
Empire Electrical Code, 1957 Edition, sponsored by the

pire Electrical Association, is adopted as the Electrical Code of
the City of Beaumont, creating the office of Chief Electrical
Inspector, prescribing his duties and authority, providing for the
issuance of electrical permits and for inspections and fixing the
fees therefor, regulating the installation, arrangement, altera-
tions, repair, maintainance and operation of electrical wiring,
electrical fixtures and other electrical appliances and equipment.
Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, con=
ditions and terms of such Inland Empire Electrical Code, 1957
Edition, are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof,
as though fully set forth herein.
(B) COPIES TO BE ON FILE. Three copies of the
Electrical Code adopted by the preceding section shall be kept
permanently on file in the office of the City Clerk.
(C) PENALTIES. Any person, firm or corporation
violating any of the provisions of the Code adopted in Section (A)
hereof, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereo
shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $500.00 or by im-
prisonment in the City Jail for a period of not more than six

months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in the
Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation, printed,
published and circulated in the City of Beaumont, and this
ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days after
its adoption.
