AN ORDINANCE AMENDING NDING 'OR DINANC.E NO. 232 BY AMENDING
ARTICLE 7 SUBSECTION 8 (a) THEREOF BY iEQUIRING A
CONDITIONAL USE 'PERMIT FOR THE RAISING OF POULTRY
AND 1ViBBITS COMHERCIALLY ON SITES CONTAINING MORE
THAN ONE ACRE.
THE CITY COUNCIL 3F THE CITY OF BEAUMONT DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
Article 7, Subsection 8 (a)
hereby amended so that the
same shall read as follows:
Section . The following poultry and animals under
the following conditions:
(a) poultry, rabbits, chinchillas, foxes, and other
small animals raised for food, scientific or fur bearing
purposes, provided not more than twenty-five (25) of any
one or combination of such animals may be maintained on a
site containing one (1) acre or less. roultry and rabbits,
except turkeys may be commercially raised on sites con-
taining more than one (1) acre, provided a conditional
use permit is first obtained in the manner prescribed in
Article 16, and that such conditions may pertain to number
of birds or animals, building types and placement, equip-
ment, time, and management, or for the purpose of assur-
ing reasonable compatibility with adjacent development.
Section 2. All other ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
urgency ordinance and to be necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and
the facts constitute its urgency are hereby stated and
declared to be as follows: As the ordinance was formerly,
there could be no limitation on the amount of poultry that
could be raised commereially on parcels of land exceeding
-=tie one (1) acre and less than four (4) acres in size.

commercial raising of poultry on parcels of land larger than
four (4) acres. The ordinance thus permitted unlimited
production on sites less than four (4) acres and more than
one. (1) acre, and without conditions being imposed on the same
could be detrimental to the public welfare.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published one
in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation,
printed, published and circulated in the City of Beaumont,
and it shall be in full force and effect immediately upon
its adoption.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of May, 1.961.
