HomeMy Public PortalAbout2017.01.11 PRAC MinutesParks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes O1/11/2017 6:OOpm McCall Public Library- McCall, Idaho Committee Members Present: Irwin Mulnick, Brigid Lawrence, Michele Hughes, Corey Nelson, and Austin Shotwell Staff Member Present: Kurt Wolf Welcome- Irwin Mulnick called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Public Comment- No public comment. Agenda Review & Updates- Nothing was added to the agenda. Introduction of Guests: Steve Millemann (legal representation), Dave Peugh (Epikos Deisgn- land planner), Chip Gallager (developer) To present project as it relates to meeting the parks requirement. Review minutes from previous meeting: Minutes were reviewed and approved as read. Brigid Lawrence made motion to approve the minutes as read — Irwin Mulnick second the motion —all were in favor— motion carried. Old Business: 1. Alpine Village Townhome Project (Parks Requirement): Dave Peugh and Chip Gallager gave overview of the project and a presentation of the design to the committee as it relates to meeting the parks requirement. Committee had questions regarding sidewalks along Washington, vacant parcel to the East, surfacing of the pathways, public restrooms, management of public plaza space, and proposed time frame: Questions were answered in detail. Steve Millemann gave presentation of the designs efforts to meet the parks requirement. Delta James (City Planner) gave overview of the city code as it relates to the parks requirement followed by discussion. Motion: 6:47pm Irwin Mulnick made motion to support the proposed parks requirement for the Alpine Village Townhome Project - based on what was presented. Austin Shotwell second the motion — all were in favor —motion carried. 2. New Hires: Kurt gave an update on the status of new hires on within the Parks Department. Stephanie Bork (Administrative Assistant) began work on January 03. Jerry Langreder has been selected as the new Parks Superintend subject to acceptance of a final offer letter. Scheduled to start work on February 01. 3. Rotary Park Construction Update: Kurt Wolf gave brief update and overview of work scheduled for spring. 4. New Play Structure at Brown Park. Kurt Wolf presented outcome of public survey. Committee discussed playground options and planning efforts moving forward into February. Committee will re -visit the topic during the February regular meeting. S. Recreation District Discussion: Nothing new to discuss. 6. Recreation Department Vehicle Purchase & Graphic Wrap: Kurt Wolf gave update on the recent purchase of a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and that the department is working with a graphic designer on a graphic wrap to market department and programs. 7. Winter Recreation Programs: Kurt Wolf gave overview of winter programs and their status. 8. Online Guide: Kurt Wolf gave brief overview 9. Potential Programs: Brief discussion of potential program ideas. Kurt Wolf outlined thoughts regarding a kids outdoor adventure program tied to the McCall Re -Mastered Nordic Race and co -sponsoring and better marketing events we are associated with but do not currently credit in our program guide and stats. New Business: 1. Winter Carnival: Kurt Wolf gave update on Winter Carnival planning and Snow Bike Race Concession Application. 2. Community Christmas tree Survey: Kurt Wolf gave overview of the ideas behind dong a public survey on the light selection for the city Christmas tree in Art Roberts Park. Meeting adjourned at 8:12 PM.
