Committee Members Present: Irwin Mulnick, Forrest Stanley (phone), Matt Linde
Staff Member Present: Kurt Wolf
Welcome- Meeting was called to order at 6:15 PM.
Public Comment- No Public Comment
Agenda Review & Updates- Nothing was added to the agenda.
Introduction of Guests: Donna Bush (potential advisory member), Tom Crawford (Scout Master -Troop 246), Carson Crawford (Scout),
Jill Marolf, Wyatt Marolf (Scout).
Review, minutes from previous meeting: Minutes were reviewed approved.
Business:
1. Dock Debris and Clean-up efforts North of Marina: Push discussion to the December meeting. -
2. IDPR — WIF Grant for docks North of Marina: Kurt gave committee members a brief overview of the project and the grant
application process. Discussed the scope of work and the overall goal to improve boater safety in that area of the lake and
keep dock debris from coming back. Committee agreed it was a good idea and that after further discussion during the
December meeting and a presentation with drawings by Kurt Wolf the committee would draft a letter of support. Irwin made
motion to support the project, Forrest second the motion, and all were in favor.
3: New Play Structure at Brown Park (Update). Push discussion to the December meeting.
4. Fall programs overview:. Push discussion to the December meeting.
5. Mile High Mile Discussion: Push discussion to the December meeting.
6. Staffing Discussion: Kurt gave the committee a brief update on the hiring process and the scheduled start dafe of the Parks
Superintendent. .
7. Parks and Rec. Advisory Committee Annual Report to Council: Matt gave a brief overview of the report and shared
council's appreciation of the committee.
8. Member Status: Irwin introduced Donna Bush who has expressed interest in the committee. Irwin and the committee
gave Donna an overview of how the committee functions as an advisory group, recent accomplishments, and future goals.
Donna expressed interest and the committee requested a letter of interest for staff to present to council in December or
January.
9. Scout Troop Projects and Events: Tom Crawford and Jill Marolf— along with scout troop members Carson Crawford and
Wyatt Marolf came to inform committee about public service details and potential. Ideas included Winter Carnival
assistance - such as cleanup after the parade. Brief discussion on the role this played last year and how much it helped the
Parks Department out. Other projects included the 2017-18 Carnival event and planting projects at Riverfront Park."
Further discussion revolved around the scout troops using Riverfront Park for the Winter Jamboree during the weekend of
January 12-14.
10. Valley County Waterways. Ordinance Change Discussion: Kurt gave the committee an update on the proposed changes to
the waterways ordinance. Committee discussed supporting and drafting a letter in opposition of the changes and agreed to.
draft a letter to the County Commissioners stating such. Forrest made motion and agreed to draft a letter, Irwin second the
motion, and all were in favor.
Meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM. Next meeting is scheduled for: December 20, 2017
