HomeMy Public PortalAbout2016.12.07 PRAC AgendaParks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes 12/07/2016 6:OOpm McCall Public Library - McCall, Idaho 400 Committee Members Present: Irwin Mulnick, Brigid Lawrence, Matt Linde, Michele Hughes, Corey Nelson, and Forrest Stanley Staff Member Present: Kurt Wolf Welcome- Irwin Mulnick called the meeting to order at 6:03 PM. Public Comment- No public comment. Agenda Review & Updates- Nothing was added to the agenda, Irwin Mulnick mentioned there will be a Ski Mountaineering Race at Brundage on December 16. (Northwest Passage Race) Introduction of Guests: It was decided that the December meeting might be pre -mature to have Steve Millemann present the Alpine Village Townhouse project — opted to bring that topic to the committees January meeting. Review minutes from previous meeting: Minutes were reviewed and approved as read. Forest Stanley made motion to approve, Matt Linde second and all were in favor. Old Business: 1. New Hires: Kurt gave an update on the application process for the Parks Superintendent position — Twelve applicants to date. Kurt discussed with committee the possibility of having Matt Linde sit in on the interview panel. 2. IDPR WIF Grant Application for public docks at Rotary Park: Kurt informed committee that after a careful review of the original deed for that property we are not allowed to construct docks on that property. Committee discussed the need for improvements to the existing docks at Legacy Park and were in favor of shifting grant funding to make those improvements and would endorse a letter of support for the project. 3. Rotary Park Construction Update. Kurtgave an update on the construction status of Rotary Park stating that a portion of the CIP funds for improvements to Browp Park will be re -allocated to Rotary in the spring to finish landscaping and.irfrigation while the parking lot is being re -paved: 'Noting that Brown Park construction estimates came in below projections. 4. Recreation District Discussion: On going conversation regarding the push for the West Central Mountains Recreation District. Bridgid Lawrence and Kurt Wolf gave committee an overview of both the meeting held on November 21 with city staff and the public meeting held on December 06 at Idaho First Bank. Committee discussed the pros and cons of the idea and proposed inviting Andrew Mentzer to the next meeting. Committee decided to make it a works session during the January meeting. Kurt Wolf encourage committee members to organize and outline their thoughts prior to the next meeting and possibly reach out to community members for their thoughts and concerns. 5. Winter Recreation Programs, Online Guide, and Potential Programs: Forest made motion to punt these agenda items to the next meeting in January. Corey Nelson second and all were in favor of the motion. 1of1
