Committee Members Present Irwin Mulnick, Cory Nelson, Brigid Lawrence, Austin Shotwell and Matt Linde
Staff Members Present: Tara Woods
Welcome- Irwin Mulnick called the meeting to order at 6:05 PM.
Public Comment- Irwin mentioned the manager of ProBuild had communicated he wanted to donate redwood for benches at
Wildhorse Park. He was a huge fan and really appreciated seeing the park in that neighborhood.
Annual Report -The committee worked through each item of the report. Recreation numbers, parks projects, future plans and future
staffing needs. Irwin planned to deliver annual report to City Council on Oct. 20 with Tara.
Advisory Committee Issues/Concerns-
1. Committee did express concern about cancelling swim lessons for summer 2017; and request the recreation department look
into hosting swim lessons at community pools at Hunts Lodge or American Inn during the week. Tara agreed to look into it.
Tara also expressed the need to continue the Mile High Mile Swim Event due to the 900 event towel leftover; which cost the
department over $1200 last year. More efforts need to be made to help grow the event; which currently sits around 40-50
participants.
2. Brigid reported on communications with the Rec District; whose Oct. meeting was cancelled due to Business Expo. They
discussed the option of running the rec district like library district, but mentioned a need of continual funding. Brigid will
report more in the future.
