Meeting Minutes 8/17/17 Approved
• Discussion of draft report from Amy and Beth
o Just a few minor edits but content will remain unchanged. Final report will be presented
to the Library Board for final approval 9/21/17.
o To support the predicted cost per sq. ft it would be good to show similar costs/sq ft
recently renovated/built - for example.Bown Crossing in Boise. Meg will investigate.
• City update
o Only a few people have applied for the City Council openings, no City Manager yet, so
not much continued discussion about Library Expansion
• Meg reported some recent occurrences:
o The library received part of the LOT money requested ($60,000) and in the City budget
($100,000) for the coming fiscal year - This money can be saved
o Laura Cunningham foundation awarded $50,000 to the Library Expansion campaign
o The local Progressive Club awarded $5,000
• Timeline discussion - committment from the City
o While we encourage the City to come back with a strong financial commitment, Amy and
Beth will continue with their process. Next step is forming a steering committee. Amy and
Beth will go back to the interview list and contact people who expressed an interest in
being involved. Library Board, Friends of the Library, Expansion Committee members are
all invited. A training will be developed and presented to steering committee members.
Let Amy know if we have any suggestions of people who might be interested in serving
as a Steering Committee member.
o Discussion of how to proceed/next-steps of Expansion Committee.
o Meg will speak to the City Council what the next steps are at their next meeting.
• Next meeting changed to September 25th @ 3:15pm.
