Seven alternatives for footprints were presented. Committee narrowed down the footprint alternatives to option #2 and #4. Three space options presented. Estimates of project costs per/option were given. • The first space option provides enough space to make the existing library collection, spaces, more in line with current library standards and ADA compliant (no additional books). The third space option was described by the consultants as a 20-year plan library. The second dption was a mid -point between the two options. • Meg took consultants to the middle school high school. Highlights from the kids: most prefer book to e-reader, comfortable/soft chairs with flexible seating options, skylights and window seats, 95% had a book checked out from school library,, only a few frOM,the Public Library. They don't come very often during the school year because of hov busy they are. Recording studio (high schoolers), movie showing, a slide, more NF books. • Meg and consultants met with City Manager. Discussed each of the alternatives and how committee had selected #2 and #4. Discussed using a bond to fund all or part of the funding. There is a'sewer bond that is coming up next year so City Manager commented that the political climate wouldn't be good for introducing another bond. • Meg discussed the alternatives with Michelle Groenevelt (community development director). Michelle and City Manager discussed with Meg the idea of increasing the service area. The library tried to do that before and it did not pass to include Cascade and Lake Fork. Committee has mixed feelings about this option. New Business • Recommendations from the consultants: advocacy - start and continue conversations about the library; show the need - we need to clarify and show the need. o Can consultants help us develop talking points? Meg will ask them ■ We are engaged in the process ■ Use "Design consultants" instead of "architects" at this stage ■ Several options are still on the table and we are trying to find the best fit in conjunction with the City and the city campus is We have had a lot of great input from the community, a lot of excitement o We need to bring City Council along is Consultants will be coming in October to engage with the City Council and present their results/findings Next meeting is Wednesday, Sept 21 at 3:15pm.
