HomeMy Public PortalAbout121-1997 - General Ordinance - Amends Chapter 150 of the City CodeORDINANCE NO. 121-1997 A GENERAL ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 150 OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND CODE WHEREAS, Chapter 150 of the City of Richmond Code contains the building code for the City of Richmond; and WHEREAS, Section 150.05(g) addresses the expiration of building permits; and WHEREAS, said section, assumably due to typographical or administrative error, is unclear; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to clarify that permits shall expire if work has not commenced within sixty (60) days from the date of their issuance and that if work is subsequently suspended or abandoned for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days or more, the work may be recommenced only after the issuance of a new permit. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana that Section 150.05(g) shall read as follows: (g) Expiration of Permits Every Permit shall expire if active work shall not have been commenced within sixty (60) days of the date of issue thereof. If the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after work is commenced, and work is not recommenced for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days or more, such work shall be recommenced only after the issuance of a new permit.
