AUTHORIZING REQUEST FOR FUNDS FOR INDUSTRIAL
ROAD ENGINEERING STUDY
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret having received a designation as an Urban
Enterprise Zone in January 1995 has funds available with which specific projects may
be funded; and
WHEREAS, as of December 31, 1996, the Urban Enterprise Zone Fund for the
Borough of Carteret has exceeded $530,000.00; and
WlIE~REAS, plans are underway to enhance the commercial area of lower Roosevelt
Avenue through the diversion of truck traffic through the extension of the Carteret
Industrial Road; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret, in conjunction with the Township of
Woodbridge, is seeking to assume joint financial involvement in this expansion; and
WHEREAS, a feasibility and engineering report will convey cost estimates to both
Woodbridge Township and the Borough of Carteret.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret do authorize the Urban Enterprise Zone Coordinator to request
funds through the Urban Enterprise Zone Authority to begin this feasibility and
engineering study.
BE IT FURTl~R RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council do authorize the Urban
Enterprise Zone Coordinator to request funds in the amount of $50,000.00 to begin
this project.
