AUTHORIZING REQUEST FOR FUNDS FOR
TOWN CENTER DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret having received a designation as an Urban
Enterprise Zone in January 1995 has funds available with which specific projects may
be funded; and
WHEREAS, as of December 31, 1996, the Urban Enterprise Zone Fund for the
Borough of Carteret has exceeded $530,000.00; and
WHEREAS, Artist renderings have been presented to the Mayor and Council in the
desire to increase the commercial business along Pershing and Cooke Avenues, major
thoroughfares in the Urban Enterprise Zone; and
WHEREAS, the Community Development Board has supported the development
of this "Town Center" through financial support of the artist renderings; and
WHEREAS, a feasibility study to determine viability of the "Town Cemer"
development is an approved project under the Urban Enterprise Regulations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret do authorize the Urban Enterprise Zone Coordinator to submit
a project proposal to the Urban Emerprise Zone Authority for a feasibility study of
the proposed "Town Center" in the amount of $50,000.00.

and certified as a true copy of the original
