RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE BOROUGH OF METUCHEN'S ACTION
IN OPPOSITION TO THE "GARBAGE TRAIN"
WHEREAS, the Borough of Metuchen, New Jersey ("Metuchen") has commensed an
action against the so called "garbage train" which will transport New York City garbage
throughout Middlesex County, including the Borough of Cartcret (the "Borough"); and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret believe that the
transportation of such garbage through the Borough will have a severely adverse affect
on the health, safety and welfare on the Borough and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council believe that the action of Metuchen in opposing the
"garbage train" is in the best interest of all communities affected.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret that the action of Metuchen in filing a lawsuit in opposition of the "garbage
train" is strongly supported and encouraged.
BE, IT, FURTHER, RESOLVED that the Borough Attorney be and is hereby directed
to investigate the possibility of similar action on behalf of the Borough.
