Tybee Island, Ga. – (June 17, 2014) This summer, Tybee Island residents and visitors can add a FREE free activity to their summer plans: movies in the park! On the third Saturday of June, July, and August, movies will be shown at sunset in Memorial Park (located off Butler Avenue between the library at 405 Butler Avenue and City Hall at 403 Butler Avenue, the gym at 202 Fifth Street, Tybee Island, GA 31328) against projected on the side of the YMCAgym. Selections include Disney’s Frozen on Saturday, June 21; Warner Brothers’ Dolphin Tale on July 19; and Universal Studios’ Despicable Me 2 on August 16. Main Street Coordinator, Chantel Morton worked with the group’s Main Street (volunteer) Bboard of dDirectors to bring this project to fruition. “Part of our vision is to improve the quality of life for those that live, work, and visit Tybee Island, so this was a natural way for us to sponsor an event that brings the community together on Tybee,” said Morton. Director (Brenda) Marion, who is also the Main Street Promotions Committee liaison, She added, “Our hope is that people grab their blankets or lawn chairs, pack a picnic, and join us for this fun, free event. We purchased thehave temporary rights to show the films through a distribution company, so we are covered on any copyright issues for showing the movies to a crowd, and staff with the Tybee YMCA is assisting if we need to relocate into the YMCA gym has agreed to be our backup plan in case should it of rain.
