A Special Meeting of Council has been called for 3 :00 p.m.,
this afternoon, by the following Councilmen: Earl R. Anderson,
Edward W. Towns, Edward Jung and Perry A. Zittrauer, Jr., for the
purpose of holding a second reading on the proposed amendment to the
alcoholic beverages ordinance.
The Meeting was presided over by Mayor Wm.Allen Hendrix and a
quorum consisting of the following Councilmen was present:
Edward Towns, Earl Anderson, Walter Parker, Edward Jung and Ernest
Hosti.
A group of approximately 32 citizens and residents also
attended this meeting, the first part of which was open and was held
in the auditorium. Many of the attending citizens voiced their
opinion for and against the issue. Also, most of the Councilmen
voiced their opinion on the subject. When all had been given the
opportunity to be heard, the meeting was adjourned to the Council
Chamber for the purpose of conducting the official business of the
session.
Councilman Earl Anderson moved that the amendment to the
alcoholic beverage ordinance be amended so as to re- define the
times that alcoholic beverages or distilled spirits may be sold as
set forth in Section 3 -1 of the Ordinance and be adopted on second
and final reading.
O R D I N A N C E
The motion was seconded by Councilman Towns and carried by a
vote of 3 to 1. Councilman Anderson,. Towns, and Jung voted for the
amendment and Councilman Walter Parker voted against the amendment
and Councilman Hosti abstained.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
to the next regular or special called meeting.

O R D I N A N C E
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3, ARTICLE I,
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF SAVANNAH BEACH,
PERTAINING TO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, BUSINESS
REDEFINE THE TIMES THAT ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
SECTION 3 -1, OF THE
TYBEE ISLAND, GEORGIA,
HOURS, SO AS TO
OR DISTILLED SPIRITS
FOR BEVERAGE PURPOSES BY THE DRINK MAY BE SOLD BY PERSONS OR
BUSINESSES HAVING LICENSES ISSUED BY THE MUNICIPALITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN in Council duly
assembled and it is hereby ordained as follows:
"SECTION 3 -1. BUSINESS HOURS - SPECIFIED; AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR
COMPLIANCE.
The Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island, Georgia, in adopting this Ordinance hereby decree
that the provisions, rules and regulations herein shall be applicable
to all establishments and bars within the limits of the municipality;
shall control and govern the operation of such establishments, shall
be reduced to written form, distributed and served on all licensees
of such establishments within the City, and the violation of any
such provisions, rules and regulations shall be subject to the
penalty herein prescribed.
(a) The following rules and regulations shall apply for
the retail sale of alcoholic beverages, distilled spirits
or spirituous liquors for beverage purposes by the drink,
such sales to be for consumption on the premises only;
(1) It shall be unlawful for any person or business
to sell or offer for sale any alcoholic beverages,
distilled spirits, or spirituous liquors for beverage
purposes by the drink for consumption on the premises
as such terms are defined by Georgia Code Section 58 -1011
during the following times:
MONDAY 12:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
TUESDAY 4:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
WEDNESDAY 4:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
THURSDAY 4:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
FRIDAY 4:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
SATURDAY 4:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
SUNDAY 12:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Monday
(2) Said Businesses will close and shall not open and
operate between the hours of Twelve midnight on
Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Monday of each week.

(3) Said businesses shall not be allowed to open,
operate, or do business during the hours herein
specified, notwithstanding that said businesses may
possess a restaurant or food license and the area
in which said alcoholic beverages, distilled spirits
or spirituous liquors for beverage purposes by the
drink are sold or dispensed is not physically and
completely separated from the area in which food
and non - alcoholic beverages are sold or served.
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH ARE
REPEALED.
ADOPTED in Open Council Meeting this 28th day of June , 1973.
