Tybee Island Police Receive GOHS Grant
Tybee Island, Ga. – (July 30, 2014) On May 29th, 2014, the Tybee Island Police Department is the proud recipient of an $8000.00 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety designated
to help us obtain an Intoxilyzer 9000 - an instrument utilized in DUI arrests.
Tybee Island’s commitment to reducing the incidents associated with DUI crashes, injuries and fatalities has been enhanced by this great opportunity, and it also helps us show compliance
with the State of Georgia’s intent to phase out the current use of the Intoxilyzer 5000.
“With Sergeant Charlie Powers’ hard work and dedication to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, he has led the Tybee Island Police Department into the age of sophistication and technology
with his commitment to detecting and prosecuting drivers who are under the influence,” says TIPD Chief Robert J Bryson Jr.
The Tybee Island Police Department is dedicated to giving the residents of and visitors to Tybee Island the very best in public safety and protection from drivers who may be operating
a motor vehicle while under the influence. This grant will enable us to continue our commitment to the community in reducing the incidents involving drivers under the influence on our
Island.
