ORDINANCE NO. 353
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 282 REGULATING
OUTDOOR ADVERTISING DISPLAYS.
The City Council of the City of Beaumont does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Section 5 of Article 13 of Jrdinance No, 282 is
hereby amended so that the same shall read as follows:
Section 5e Outdoor Advertising Displays or Outdoor
Advertising Structures.
A. Notwithstanding any other provision of this ordinance
no outdoor advertising structure or outdoor advertising
display shall be placed in the hereinafter described area
in the incorporated territory of the City of Beaumont. The
area, or areas, hereinabove referred to are described as
follows:
(1) The areas extending five hundred (500) feet on
either side of the property line of any highway designated
as
is
a State Freeway or County Freeway.
B. This Section shall have no application to the following:
(1) Signs so located that the matter displayed thereon
not visible to persons or passengers upon any thoroughfare
designated in paragraph A, above,
(2) Signs used exclusively --
(a) for the display of official notices issued by any
court or public body or official, or for the posting of notices
by any public officer in the performance of a public duty,
by any person in giving legal notice.
(3) Signs which are used exclusively to advertise the
ownership, sale, or lease of the property upon which such sign
is placed, or to advertise a business conducted, or services
rendered. or goods produced upon such nremisps_ nr Arm nthar

materially or practically tend to interfere with approaching drivers
readily distinguishing them from a traffic signal.
Section 20 Allother ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3o The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
once in the Beaumont Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation,
published, printed and circulated in the City of Beaumont, and
thirty (30) days after its adoption, this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect.
