AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA,
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE
"INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS,
UNIFORM SIGN CODE, VOLUME V OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE, 1967 EDITION" AS THE UNIFORM SIGN CODE OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR
THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. (A) ADOPTION OF SIGN CODE. The International Conference of
Building Officials, Uniform Sign Code, Volume V of the Uniform Building Code,
1967 Edition is adopted as the Sign Code of the City of Beaumont, providing
minimum standards to safeguard life, health, property and public welfare by
regulating and controlling the design, quality of materials, construction,
location, electrification, and maintenance of all signs and sign structures not
located within a building.. and providing for issuance of permits and collection
of fees as established by the 1967 Edition of the Uniform Building Code° and
further providing that no sign shall be erected in such a manner as to confuse or
obstruct the view or interpretation of any official traffic sign, signal or
device: and the regulations of this Code are not intended to permit any violation
of the provisions of any other lawful Ordinance.
Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions, and
terms of such International. Conference of Building Officials Uniform Sign Code,
Volume V of the Uniform Building Code, 1967 Edition, are hereby referred to,
adopted and made a part hereof, as though fully set forth herein.
(B) COPIES TO BE ON FILE. Three copies of the Sign Code adopted by the
preceding section shall be kept permanently on file in the office of the City
Clerk.
(C) PENALTIES. Any person, firm or Corporation violating any of the
provisions of the Code so adopted in Section 1(A) hereof, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine of not
more than $500.00 or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period of not
more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance
and shall cause the same to be published in the Record -Gazette, a newspaper of
general circulation, in the City of Beaumont, and this ordinance shall be in
full force and effect thirty days after its adoption.

certify that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced and read at a Regular Meeting
of the City Council of said City duly held on the 26th day of March 1968,
and that the same was duly passed and adopted at a Regular Meeting held on the
9th day of April 1968, by the following vote:
