ORDINANCE NO. 401
AN ORDINANCE . REGULATING THE .. OPERATION OF.
RAILWAY TRAINS, RAILWAY CARS QRSIMILAR -
VEHICLES 'ON RAILS : OVER, ACROSS. -AND UPON
THE STREETS 'OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to the health,safety,
life. anal
general welfare of, the inhabitants of the City of Beaumont that
railway trains, railway cars or similar vehicles on rails operatin
within the corporate limits of said city, regulated -in order
to prevent ever-present danger to the safety, ,health, life and
general welfare of said inhabitants';
NOW , : THEREFORE, ; THE CITY COUNCIL OF Tilig CITY OF BEAONT
DOES ORDAIN AS' FOLLOWS
Section 1: -It shall be unlawful 'for any person to cause or
permit any railway° train or railway cars or similar vehicle on

or to be . operated in --.such a;

use of any_street for the purposes of trave'
time longer than ten (10) minutes, except
for a period of

shall not apply to railway trains, cars or similar vehicle

Section 2: Any person, firm or corporation violating any

shall be deemed guilty
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof

I, Mae B. Goularte, City Clerk of the City of Beaumont,
California, hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 401
was introduced and read at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of said City duly held on the 25th day of March, 1969, and that
the same was duly passed and adopted at a regular meeting held
on the 8th day of April, 1969, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilman Rodeman, Mason, Kief, Hightower and Haskell.

10.68.010 Driving through railway gates.
10.68.020 Trains not to block crossings.
10.68.010 DRIVING THROUGH RAILWAY GATES,
No person shall drive any vehicle through, around, or under
any crossing gate or barrier at a railroad grade crossing while
such gate or barrier is closed or is being opened or closed. (Ord.
2940 t 17.1, 1961).
10.68.020 TRAINS NOT TO BLOCK CROSSINGS. No
person shall cause or permit any railway train or railway cars or
similar vehicle on rails to stop or stand or to be operated in such
a manner as to prevent the use of any street for the purposes of

10.72.010 VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC
travel for a period of time longer than ten minutes, except that
this provision shall not apply to railway trains, cars or similar
vehicles on rails while blocking or obstructing a crossing because
of an accident which requires the operator of the train, car or
similar vehicle on rails to stop at or near the scene of the acci-
