ORDINANCE NO. 433
AS ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA,
AAENDING SECTIONS 4 & 5 OF ORDINANCE #288, RELATING
TO LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX RATES, AND DECLARING THIS
ORDINANCE TO 13E AN EMERGENCY MEASURE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, DOES ORDAIN AS
Section 1: Section 4-A-1 of Ordinance ##288 of the City of
Beaumont is hereby amended to read as follows:
SALES TAX IMPOSED. For the privilege of selling tangible
personal property at retail a tax is hereby imposed upon
- all retailers in the City at the following fractions
of one percent of the gross receipts of the retailer from
the sale of all tangible personal property sold at retail
in the City on and after the operative dates of this
section at the rates shown in the following schedule:

Section 2: Section 5-A of Ordinance #288 of the City of
Beaumont is hereby amended to read as follows:
USE TAX IMPOSED. An excise tax is hereby imposed on the
storage, use or other consumption in the City of Beaumont
of tangible personal property purchased from any retailer
at the following fractions of one percent of the sales
price of the property on and after the operative dates of
this Section at the rates shown in the following schedule.
The sales price shall include delivery charges when such
charges are subject to state sales or use tax regardless
of the place to which delivery is made.

Section 3: This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an Urgency
Ordinance and to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public peace, health and safety and the facts constituting its urgency
are hereby stated and declared to be as follows:
This Ordinance, to be effective, must be submitted to the
State Board of Equalization before October 1, 1971 and this meeting is
the only meeting before that time at which it can be passed and adopted.
Section 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of

this ordinance and cause it to be published once in the Record Gazette,
a newspaper of general circulation. This is an ordinance establishing
sales and use tax rates on tangible personal property and being a tax
ordinance shall become effective upon adoption and shall become operative
October 1, 1971.
ADOPTED by the City Council and signed by the Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk this 13th day of September, 1971.
