AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA,
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE
"INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS
AND WESTERN FIRE CHIEF'S ASSOCIATION UNIFORM FIRE
CODE, 1971 EDITION" AS THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 391
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1, (A) ADOPTION OF FIRE CODE. The International Conference
cf Building Officials and Western Fire: Chief°s Association, Uniform Fire
Code, 1971 Edition is adopted as the Fire Code of the City of Beaumont,
providing regulations, consistent with nationally recognized standard
practice, safeguarding life, health, property and public welfare to a
reasonable degree from the hazards of fire and explosion arising from
the storage, use and handling of dangerous and hazardous materials, sub-
stances and deices, the operation, installation, construction, locations,
safeguarding and maintenance of adequate means of egress.
Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions,
and terms of the Uniform Fire Code, 1971 Edition, are hereby referred to,
adopted and made a part hereof, as though fully set forth herein.
(B) COPIES TO BE ON FILE. Three copies of the Fire Code adopted
by the preceding section shall be kept permanently on file in the office
of the City Clerk.
(C) PENALTIES. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of
the provisions cf the Code so adopted in Section 1(A) hereof, shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable
by a fine of not more than $500.00 or by imprisonment in the County Jail
for a period of not more than six months, or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in the Record -Gazette,
a newspaper of general circulation, in the City of Beaumont, and this
ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days after its
adoption.

introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Beaumont, duly held on the 10th day of April, 1972, and that
the same was duly passed and adopted at a regular meeting of said
City Council duly held on the 24th day of April, 1972, by the follow-
ing vote:
AYES: Councilman Rodeman, Ochoa, Valdivia, Hightower and Haskell.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
