AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA,
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 437 OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE
"INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS
AND WESTERN FIRE CHIEF'S ASSOCIATION UNIFORM FIRE
CODE, 1973 EDITION " AS THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF. ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH ARE HEREBY REPEATED.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
9 SECTION I. (A) ADOPTION OF FIRE CODE. The International confer-
ence of Building Officials and Western Fire Chief's Association, Uniform
10 Fire Code, 1973 Edition is adopted as the Fire Code of the City of Beaumont,
11providing regulations, consistent with nationally recognized standard practice,
1 safeguarding life, health, property and public welfare to a reasonable degree
the hazards of fire and explosion arising from the storage, use and handling
of dangerous and hazardous materials, substances and devices, the operation,
installation, construction, locations, safeguarding and maintenance of adequate
means of egress.
Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penaltie-, conditions,
and terms of the Uniform Fire Code, 1973 Edition, are hereby referred to,
adopted and made a part hereof, as though fully set forth herein
(B) COPih.S TO BR ON FILE. Three copies of the Fire Code adopted
by the preceding section shall be kept permanently on file in the office of
the City Clerk.

(C) PENALTIES. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of
the provisions of the code so adopted in Section I (A) hereof, shall be guilty
19 I of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine
of not more than $500.00 or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period
of not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

21 SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in the Record -Gazette, a
22 newspaper of general circulation, in the City of Beaumont, and this ordinance
shall be in full force and effect thirty days after its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 24th day of September, 1973.
