GREENCASTLE BOARD OF WORKS
EXECUTIVE SESSION
MONDAY, .JULY 1, 1996 12:00 NOON CITY HALL
The Greencastle Board of Works met in executive session Monday, July 1, 1996, 12:00 Noon.. at
Citv Hall. Mayor Michael called the meetinu to order. On the Roll Call, the followmtt were
found to be present: Sue Murray and George Murphey. City Attorney Zemer was also present.
Clerk - Treasurer .Jones requested guidance from the Board in regards to the Water and Sewa«e
Office. CT Jones explained that there are many problems in the office; morale, public image
and accountability. After some discussion it was the consensus of the Board to leave the Office
Manager and Assistant Office Manager in place and for CT Jones to write a Memo stating what
is expected of the personnel in the office. If there are still problems the Board will meet again
and take another direction in solving the problem(s).
Sue Murrav asked about the Planner position that the City advertised for. Mayor Michael asked
the Board if they would like to interview three candidates or take the recommendation of the
Mayor and City Engineer Chris Barnes. Mavor Michael told the Board that she has offered the
position of Planner /Building Inspector to a person, but the person was told that this offer was
contingent upon Board approval_ The person taking the position will report to the Mayor, but
Will work very closely with Engineer Barnes. The salary for the combined position, Mav_ or
Michael told the Board, is set at $38,000.00. A Special Session for the Board of Works to
interview the candidate was scheduled for July 22, 1996 at 3:00 p.m., Cin� Street Department.
Being no further business a motion to adjourn was made by George Murphey, seconded by Sue
Murray. Vote was Unanimous.
