Savannah Beach, Georgia
February 1, 1974
A Special Meeting of Savannah Beach City Council was
held this evening at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of considering
the duties, qualifications, and employment of municipal officers,
and for other purposes.
A quorum, consisting of the following councilmen, was
present: Edward Jung, Earl Anderson, Edward Towns and Mrs. Karen
Losey. Due to the absence of the Mayor, Councilman Edward Jung,
Mayor Pro Tem, presided over the meeting. Councilmen Ernest
Hosti and Walter Parker were also absent from the meeting.
Mayor Pro Tem Edward Jung delayed the opening of the meeting
45 minutes to see if the Mayor and other two councilmen were going
to attend the meeting, after which he asked for any business that
was to come before the meeting.
Councilwoman Mrs. Karen Losey stated that the present work-
load of the City of Savannah Beach required a tremendous amount of
time and that she felt our present City Attorney, Mr. Fred Clark,
did not have sufficient time to devote to these duties and that
his resignation should be accepted. She then moved that since no
response had been received from Mr. Clark in answer to their
request that he resign, that his services be terminated, effective
immediately. The motion was seconded by Councilman Earl Anderson.
Councilman Jung then called for discussion on the motion.
Under discussion, Councilman Earl Anderson stated that he felt it
regretable that they had to take this action but felt that, in so
doing, the best interest of the camaunity would be served. Councilman:
Edward Towns also stated that in the best interest of serving the
people of Savannah Beach, another attorney should be secured.
There being no further discussion, Mr. Jung then put the
question. The motion was unanimously carried.
Following the adoption of that motion, Councilwoman Losey
suggested that the termination of Mr. Clark's services as City
Attorney not be released to the news media until Mr. Clark had
time to turn in a written resignation. Councilman Earl Anderson
then moved that this news be withheld for at least 24 hours in
order to allow Mr. Clark to resign. The motion was seconded by
Mrs. Losey and unanimously carried.

for City Attorney. Councilman Towns moved that the nominations be
closed. It was seconded by Councilman Anderson and so ordered.
