HomeMy Public PortalAbout20140630worksession1 COUNCIL WORK SESSION, JUNE 30, 2014 CALL TO ORDER The Council Work Session of June 30, 2014, was convened at 5:35 P.M. by Mayor Eric Struemph. ROLL CALL The following Council Members were present for the roll call: Present: Branch, Bray, Costales, Graham, Henry, Mihalevich, Prather, and Scrivner Absent: Hussey A quorum was declared present. TRANSIT DISCUSSION A staff presentation was made by City Administrator Steve Crowell and Public Works Director Matt Morasch. At the conclusion of the presentation, the Mayor and Council asked questions which were answered by Mr. Crowell, Mr. Morasch, Richard Turner, Part-time Transit Division Director, and City Counselor Drew Hilpert. STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS AND ACTIONS TAKEN Staff recommended the City develop an RFP for a consultant to study the Transit issues and provide a plan for the City to address those issues. Following a lengthy discussion, Councilman Ralph Bray moved that the Council authorize staff to create an RFP for Council approval. The motion was seconded by Councilman Carlos Graham. Following further discussion, Councilman Larry Henry called the question, seconded by Councilman Ralph Bray, and approved unanimously. The original motion was then approved unanimously by the following roll -call vote: Aye: Branch, Bray, Costales, Graham, Henry, Mihalevich, Prather, and Scrivner Nay: None 2 COUNCIL WORK SESSION, JUNE 30, 2014 Councilman Graham and Councilman Henry stated they believed the City should move forward with establishment of a Transit advisory committee as requested by citizens. Mayor Struemph indicated if that is their desire, th ey would need to sponsor an ordinance as required by Code for establishment of any City board or committee. Councilman Graham stated he would ask Mr. Hilpert to draft the ordinance establishing the committee. The Council indicated the draft ordinance should then go before both the Public Works Committee and the Council Committee on Administration for review and any modifications before it comes before the Council for enactment. ADJOURNMENT A motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Bray, seconded by Coun cilman Henry, and approved unanimously at 7:06 P.M.
