Scheduled Report* o. AirpmfAotivityRmpod—AirpwdManmQe/ Mr. Craft reported onthe following items: ~ The process has begun to select an airport consultant for the next five year period. The current contract with Burns & McDonnell will expire inFebruary, 2U11 � The F/V\ is adopting a safety management system which will require that every airport develop an emergency response plan. We will eventually have to develop an emergency response plan for public events and construction projects. _ The FAA is requiring all airports to have a wildlife hazard assessment in place. Our airport currently has owildlife hazard assessment and wildlife hazard management plan in place. ^ The statewide Aviation Trust Fund continues to decrease every year. The Aviation Trust Fund receives funding from the sales tax on jet fuel. As of September 2010 it is estimated that they will fall short oflast year's amount of$4.1 million. ~ There are several trees on the approach to Runway 12 that violate the FAR 77 approach surfaces. Upon receipt of a notice from MoDOT the trees will be removed. The tree removal along the entrance road will be delayed until the City has the resources available. , Traffic counts for Missouri airports from January 1 toOctober 31.2010was distributed. He stated that lie is impressed that our airport iukeeping pace with Columbia Regional Airport. Mr. Sh*dhoaocommented that this shows that ourairport iaviable arid important bothe community. b. FB0 Mr. Shm1hoae reported that traffic numbers and fuel snbe remain at constant level arid are comparable to 2009. He explained that other comparable FB{)'a are off 30-40% nn fuel sales. Mr. Shorthose commented that Our maintenance and avionics facility is drawing aircraft from other airports such as Columbia, Lake Dzork, West Plains, Springfield and K8emphis. TN. c. Friends ofthe Airport As Mr. Mehrhoff was absent, no report was given. d. Runway Safety Action Team Mr. Steve Martin, Tower Manager, explained that the Runway Safety Action Team met on October 15, 2010 to address the prevention of runway incursions and unauthorized access to runways and taxiways. He stated that there has been a significant decrease in runway incursions over the last three years.Mr. Martin explained that the Runway Safety Action Team also addresses pilot actions, as well as, controller actions. Hestated the Runway Safety Action Team will meet inOctober, 2O11 6. Old Business A. Rotation ofthe Cape Girardeau Air Show Mr. Hartley suggested that a City official contact other airports to garner interest in hosting such an event. Mr. Craft commented that it should be someonewho can speak officiallyfor COMMUnity events such as the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Morgan commented that we should speak with Cape Girardeau to see if they are amenable to the idea. He expressed concerns about competing with their air show. Ms. McMillan explained that we would discuss this with Administration if City resources are involved. She stated that budget planning would need to begin in 2011 for an air show io 2012. Mr. Morgan left *t11:O0em. Mr. Craft explained that Columbia's Salute to Veteran's Air Show is sponsored by private individuals and corporations. He stated that each performer and static display charges a fee. Mr. Craft explained that our airport previously hosted the first day of the air ahmm on Thursday of that weak to garner support from the Jefferson City community. Mr. Shohh00000mmenbad that an air show takes a lot of hard work and planning. He suggested offering to host the first day of the Salute to Veteran's Air Show in order to garner Support and bring some exposure to our airport, Mr. Shorihosevo|unteored to contact the organizers ofthe Salute in Veteran's Air Show to see if they are amenable to adding Jefferson City totheir schedule. He will present areport at the March 7.2011 meeting. Mr. Hartley moved and Mr. Naught seconded to request that Mr. Shm1hmecontact the Salute to Veteran's Air Show organizers to explore the possibility of adding Jefferson City to their schedule for 2U12.The motion passed unanimously. B. Report onCardboard Recycling Containers Ms. McMillan explained that she discussed the possibility of placing a cardboard recycling container at the airport with Mr. Charles Lansford, Interim Director (fCommunity Development, who suggested there were acouple ofoptions. One option may betoacquire ocontainer (cost $8.000) The containers located throughout the City were acquired through agrant from the Missouri Solid Waste District. Ms. McMillan explained that we could apply for a grant for an additional container however we would need to meet the 25 percent local match. She said Mr. Lansford suggested second option is to pursue discussion with New World Recycling to see if they have any excess containers that they could place at MinuteslAirport AdvisolyComnittee Decernber 6. 2010 Mr. Shurthosa moved and Mr. Hartley seconded to request New World Recycling to place cardboard recycling container at the airport on a trial basis, The motion passed unanimously. C. Leadership Jefferson City Mr. Naught reported that he contacted the Leadership Jefferson City Committee about including the Jefferson City Memorial Airport for future events. He stated that lie is currently waiting or) a response from them and will present o(u report otthe March 7. 2811 meeting. O. Young Eagle Flights Mr, Naught will present a report at the March 7, 2011 meeting about assisting with next year's Young Eagle Flight event. New Business A. Mr. Shorthose suggested amending future agendas by removing the Friends of the Airport Under Scheduled Reports since they have not been inattendance recently. Mr. Hartley commented that recently the Friends of the Airport have not been active. Mr. Lueckenotte Suggested inviting a representative from the Environmental Aircraft Association. Mr, Hilpert suggested renaming Agenda Itern #5 from Scheduled Reports to Invited Guests. Mr. Shnrthosavo|unteered to contact representative from the Friends of the Airport. Mr. Hartley volunteered tocontact o representative from the Environmental Aircraft Association. Mr. Rycyk moved and Mr. Shprthuae seconded to rename Agenda Item #5 as Invited Guests. The motion passed unanimously. B. Mr. Rycyk commented that the Committee should be preparing for the City budget oyua at the March 7.2O11meeting. Hustated that iiwas mentioned turequest anadditional employee e(the airport since one position was taken away. Mr. Rycyk requested that this item be added to the March 7, 2011 meeting agenda. Other Business A.Adoption of20YYMeeting Schedule Mr. Rycyk pointed out that the time on the proposed meeting schedule should be 10:30 a.m. Mc Rycyk moved and Mr, Shmthoue seconded hzadopt the 2O11 Meeting Schedule usamended.
